Welcome to our School

Welcome

The Chalet School is a small special school, catering for pupils aged 3 – 11, with complex learning difficulties including children with an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).    Our current agreed maximum number on roll is 36.  All staff are well trained to meet the needs of children with ASD and the school has been designed with this client group in mind. We have 3 sensory rooms, including a soft play room and lots of space outside to run and play, with high fences for increased security.  We are fortunate to have a school garden with 4 raised beds, a wild area and a pond.

Our school shares its site with a mainstream primary school, Liden Primary School.  Our children can attend mainstream lessons and join the children at playtimes.  Year 6 children from Liden, join us for lunchtime play twice a week, to have fun with our pupils and gain their leadership skills.  Both schools enjoy all the advantages of co-location.

Our curriculum is broad and balanced, following the National Curriculum, carefully differentiated to meet the needs of each individual.  We have a strong focus on life skills and promote the Every Child Matters outcomes in all we do.  And most important of all we believe in having lots of fun!

Our Vision

Together we can find pathways, make connections and build brighter futures

Our Mission Statement

To provide our children with the skills necessary for them to lead as fulfilling and happy life as possible in a world not necessarily designed with them in mind
